It's a great reinvestment into itself
How much does it cost IBM to be generous when name recognition and loyalty is accumulating benefits in the here and now and the future. Who do you want to work for, who do you trust with patents on software, hardware and processes, who's think-tank is creditable, who's got the hardware and software to weather financially tough times, can acquire companies maybe left and maybe right to increase their portfolio of tech, stocks, and patents. IBM ranks tops as the company with good PR in the bank, they hardly make a public or commercial misstep. They?ve been at it long enough to play it right.
