The questions can't possibly be too difficult - anything more than the make and model of PC will be too much. Any machine that has been sold second-hand will likely have an unknown history for the new user, questions such as where it was bought from or when will be too hard.

Consider Apple - OS X doesn't have a licence key and it's half the price of XP. I have bought several upgrade versions of Mac OS as a result, but only ever one upgrade for Windows (98 to 2k) because of the prohibitive cost compared to the OEM price.

Which company's share price is going through the roof and which one has been static for 3 years?
