Missing the point...
No, they can't use it in development. That's exactly the point. They can't modify it, they can't compile it.

And as I said in my post, I'm not trying to do any of that. However, I AM trying to debug my OWN program, which runs within SQL Server. Having access to SQL Server source code is GREAT in that regard, just as having access to my own code is great during debugging. It makes it 80 times easier to figure out what went wrong, and figure out what, exactly, will happen when I make a call.

I don't have to make (or want to make) ANY changes to SQL Server to do any of that.
