SAP, Microsoft draw battle lines

Are you totally incapable of anayzing an argument?

You appear to have totally missed my point.

Microsoft has two unfair advantages:

1. They have enough money that they can afford to give
products away.

2. They own the operating system that most of SAP's
customers use, so they can take advantage of OS
integration capabilities that SAP does not have access to,
and they are not above changing the OS to prevent SAP's
software from working properly. (This is not paranoia. They
have done it before.)

Given these facts, how can competitors be motivated to
improve quality? Quality is totally irrelevant. Besides, since
price is the critical consideration (read the article), SAP will
have to REDUCE the amount of money they are currently
spending on quality in order to have a more competitive
price. This will, obviously, HURT quality, not improve it.

Like I said, we've been here before. Microsoft's unfair,
anticompetitive business practices didn't exactly force
Netscape to make a better product, did it? Or have you
forgotten about Communicator 4.0?
