You're completely agreeing with me (unless I
missed something).

You are reinforcing that "price is everything."
You are totally correct; price *is* everything.
My argument is that Linux and open source
provide far better cost savings and have
superior support. Using your own logic, you can
play out Microsoft's predicament. Linux will
become the defacto platform for business,
embedded systems (cell phones), and finally the
home desktop. MS isn't "doomed". They will
still exist, just like Oracle and SAP still
exist, but there leadership role will be
stripped from them in the markets they currently
lead in.
