Doesn't this patent sound like XUL?
I read the patent and was particularly struck by how much this patent resembles XUL: Mozilla's interface construction language, which can be used to build applications in XML outside the security system of the browser and yet with full access to the browser's capabilities. The only differences between XUL and this patent are the choice of replaceable languages: XML is swapped for HTML, Javascript and VBscript are swapped for ECMAscript, trusted applications are swapped for Java and plug-ins. Does anyone spot a single difference in the Microsoft invention other than it is more specific to Windows and IE?

Microsoft once again claims the innovation of others as their own.
