Profit vs snubbing
Given these days of profit-above-all & damn-the-client, I can understand the reaction, especially given how difficult Fedora Core 3 is to tune unless you have a machine whereon you can elect to install everything (out of several different installs, FC3 was worse than my first stall in 1994).

I am surprised & disappointed at how many legacy modules RH jettisoned (even from archives) between 1999 and 2004. One of RH's pluses was that you could install it on older machines to make use of them as servers, specialized processers, etc.; but not anymore.
