I have had a lot of problems with FC3, too
It does not run well on my test machine, which is the same machine that ran RHL 9 fine when I first tried it.

It is the only distribution that, in 9 years of development with Linux, has given kernel panics in an out-of-the-box installation. I compiled my own kernel, replaced Gnome 2.8 with 2.2, and made many other tweaks. I finally have an installation I'm almost happpy with. I would never install FC3 on a client's system.

It's as if Fedora is Red Hat's development tree for their Enterprise products.
