Don't completely disagree, but...

I still don't agree on the thin client/centralized computing argument. There are often compelling reasons to keep the status quo that extend way beyond the theoretical elegance of a proposed solution. But your point is well stated.

You further state ?I'm of the opinion that problems have not gone away, there are simply more of a less severe variety. The time effort and industry going into patching and preventing problems is more than ever. It's time to stop rationalizing and accommodating a second rate system and demand better.?

I know there are problems. I, for one, have taken measures to protect myself and have not suffered. In addition, I have developed a particular expertise over 15 years of using Windows and Windows-based apps that I?m reluctant to throw away for only the promise of something better. Many of us still have a job to do and can?t accept a learning curve in becoming familiar with the tools to do that job. When Windows hassles are greater than or equal to hassles of migrating to another system, I?ll have to re-evaluate. As of now, that?s not the case.
