Answering YBK's crippleware post.

My assertion was that if Windows miss Pro capabilities, then they know enough to need a lot of functionality that they have been described as not requiring.

I extended that point (users are knowledgeable) to Office.

Actually, Microsoft has recognized that many Office users don't know about, let alone use a lot of functionality. They've been trying ways to tell people interactively what Office can do for them.
And the fact that Dell happily sells most home pc's with XP Home shows that people are in the general not dissatisfied with the Home feature set. Or you'd have to argue that Dell is forcing people to accept something they don't want. Doesn't sound like the Dell I know.

Your friend knows a lot about computers. He was unlikely to be satisfied with Home, because he's not the sort of person it's intended for.
