Tough Sell

You said, "...I'm still waiting to hear about a compelling reason for home users to obtain LongHorn."

Right you are. First, this has never sounded like an easy upgrade, even with fairly new hardware. Second, the capabilities and stability of XP far exceed the requirements of 90 percent of home users. Third, MS's focus on security has paid off for XP as hackers change tactics to target ignorant user behavior rather than OS holes.

I see lots of things that can be done at a business level with a more capable OS, where there are competitive pressures to be a few percent more efficient. But mainstream home users (exclude cutting-edge gamers) who bought a 2.8GHz XP system last year are not going to be clamoring for new hardware and a new OS the moment Longhorn arrives.
