Two sides of the issue.
I do understand the desire to keep it simple, but we don't live in a simple world and simple solutions applied to complex problems is an almost certain failure.

As an example, Sun recently open sourced Solaris 10. For their own reasons they felt the GPL was NOT in their best interest. Hey, a company or a person must look out for their own best interest because no one else is going to do it for them so don't come crying about greedy Sun.

If Sun had not been able to develop a workable license it would not have been open sourced and everyone would lose.

Truly a case of "be careful what you ask for, you may just get it".
