You made a point that surrounds the entire open source community. Large Corporations and large IT departments versus the normal user. This is also the major problem with Linux!

While there are lots of people working in major companies and working with computers, be it system administration or a related job, they still constitute a minority of computer users! These people are only seeing their small little worlds, and not the big picture. Something that M$ has a clear view of. And support for the average user is scratchy at best!

Linux is a spin-off of UNIX, and UNIX has been around for a very long time. It has only recently caught the public's attention because M$ has made a bunch of mistakes. But these same IT Managers refuse to wake up! They only see their small worlds. Right now, the authors of programs, who are the experts on these same programs, can't be bothered to explain their programs to an average person. It is when support of the average user becomes available that Linux, or any open source operating system, will take off and give M$ some serious competition.

Right now, the only serious competitor that M$ has is Apple.
