A couple of points
1. Linux 1.0 was released in 1991, 2.0 was released in 1996. Was it a full blown desktop operating system even in 1996? Absolutely not. It wasn't even intended to be one. It was a school project back then. And even Linux 2.6 is not a full blown desktop OS, it's just a kernel. You still need X11 and full featured desktop managers to be a considered desktop OS. You'd have to fast forward to at least 2000 to get to even close to having all the parts necessary to even be seriously considered for the desktop, and 2002 before it reached the that level. And that was with mostly volunteer support.

2. Read what I said. Novell only got into the game in 2004. Until then there was no company with that kind of advertising and development dollars to back up a desktop distribution. All others who developed for Linux made it clear they were developing for the server, and you can see where their market share has gone.

3. There IS more than 1% in 2005, and that is WITHOUT the advertising money or OEM contracts to back it up. That should tell you something.

4. Oh right. You're just flaming, so why bother explaining things?
