How about maintainability
Wouldn't this reintroduce complexity at the edge? After we (the corporate "we") have spent most of this young decade getting rid of those client apps, doesn't this concept involve installing and maintaining software on the client? We have enough to do keeping the OS and office suite going as it is. I suppose that's one way to offset the offshoring phenomenon, but corporate IT budgets are subject to a lot more scrutiny than they were in the go-go dot-com days. Top management is far less reticent about asking tough questions.
