To date, it is.

As it grows and the standards around it grow, this also proving to be true.

"... and product activation was going to save honest users hundreds of dollars by cutting down on piracy." I don't remember them ever saying the PA was going to save the users one dime. But in any case, PA is just a PITA.

Since I can remember, with the exception of Win16, MS has marketed their ideas and apps in this manner. Whisper it to see what kind of feedback you get and, if positive, roll forward with it. All along the way releasing announcements to gauge feedback on their direction and change direction is needed.

In your eyes as well as your other ABM friends, MS can't make any headlines without personally offending you in some way. I am not a fanboy of MS, by any means, but to lash out over an article like this shows your true colors in technology. You're all for advancement as long as MS doesn't try to do it.
