- You are 100% correct, Sir.
- Bad security practice is what caused this problem. I work in dev environments and whenever I enter one the first thing I do is remove root access (administrator im MS environments) from all develpoment personnel. Only those who manage the firewall and security are allowed to touch the firewall. Most devs hate it at first because it is such a "hassle" for them but all they got to do is ask. And in most cases, we are happy to work with them and their testing. Good practices can prevent a lot of this crap from happening in the first. It is amazing to read of companies who seem to ignore basic security practices and then see data exposed like this -- criminally negligent is not too far off to describe such ignorance and/or arrogance.
