Ok, understandable. Those programs that are already Windows centric and/or made by Windows people are easier to port to .NET than Java.

... AND you can use whatever DB you want.

That, provides our customers with real choice. Choice of desktop platform, choice of server platform and choice of database.

Ok, you lost me. You need to explain how Java doesn't do any of this.

Personally, I think both technologies are very similar with their own strengths and weaknesses. MS took Java and added (not created) ideas to improve it, and then the Java community took _some_ of those ideas and imcorporated them into Java. As long as they both mutually add onto one other, they will both be great technologies.

BTW: Its Java and Mono, not JAVA and MONO.
