One problem
MS Windows = North American cars = cheap and fairly reliabe

Mac = Imports from Europe = better quality, but you have to pay for it.

Linux = Hybrid car = Decent, but no where near being completed. The kinks are still being worked out.

Unix = Aston Martin, BMW M5 et cesetra = very solid OS, and very expensive, not in terms of money, but in the amount of time it would take to learn a new OS.

The Point

The vast majority of the population want a reliable and decent operating system to handle their needs. For the most part, 70% and upwards of those that have a computer, don't even know how to use it - they beleive that Outlook and other email clients are the Internet. Sad but true.

The savvy end users, would prefer a Mac, just as the savvy car buyer. They want something much more reliable, and are willing to pay for it. In this case, in order to have OS X.3 you need to buy a MAC.

Linux, has a lot of potential, but for the most part, is still very buggy. For all Windows flaws, you have to give it credit. It is the most heavily testes OS - meaning that with all the viruses/worms et al being written to breach Windows code - Microsoft is building a very reliable OS. I guarantee, that if Linux, or Mac's OS were the top dog, they would be the but end of many sarcastic remarks and more - the major beta tester; as Windows now is.

To the few, you and I know what Unix can do. Its highly reliable, but to learn how to use takes time. A lot of time, and time is money - and this makes it very expensive indeed. As in my auto example, the BMW M5 is the best Well rounded car in the world - but if you want one, you must work very hard to get it, and once you have it, you must work very hard to maintain it wink
