I find it interesting that so many in open source rebel at the idea of having to market their wares. The belief seems to be that if you build a good product the world will be at your door step waiting to take your product home. Sorry folks, it simply doesn't work that way for the vast majority of people.

Rare is the consumer that does a good job of comparing product A to product B and basing their purchase on a strictly analitical basis. Much more important is, have they heard of it before, has a friend recommended it, does it come in the flavor/color/size they want, does it have a "feel good" factor to it, etc.?

Fact vs. perception, means fact loses 99% of the time. Perception is EVERYTHING...
