I think that many have missed the Chinese threat.
Their was a time that many nations decided they were going to move from a US$ based economy to a Euro economy. This made the US plead for them to keep buying US dollars and stop buying Euros. It was an empty plea. Kind of like, "If you keep buying US$, we will try and see what we can do for you."

THe end result is that pretty much all are continuing to buy US$ but many have continued to buy the Euro as well while they wait to see what the US will do.

Many of the Developed world that the US is in-debted to have already changed to a Euro-based economy and no longer buy US$. Contrary to some beliefs, this had nothing to do with Dubya and the O.I.L. campaign. It all started in 2001 before the invasion of that sovereign nation.
