- Is everyone blind???

Look, I don't claim to be an expert on China. That would take at least a life time, but I have worked with (in) China and learned a good deal from it.
If you are going to work with/in China there are some things you must come to grips with. The first being, forget everything you ever knew about being "fair". China, or more accurately China's government doesn't care about fair. In fact it is a completely unfathonable concept for them. You MUST remember, China works on a class system that deliberately set's treatment of people differently based upon thier class. (And in case you haven't caught on, Americans are at the bottome of that heap.)
Second, China and it's government will lie straight faced and promice the moon, stars and sun to get what they want. A promice made today is something to laugh about tommorow. (Can you believe those stupid American's bought it again? Buwahahaha...)
Next, China more than ANYTHING wants to return to it's former status of super power and will do anything to make it happen. If that includes lying, cheating, or whatever, so be it. The ends justify the means.
The fact of the matter is I have worked with three (manufacturing) companies that believed they were *special* and could work a deal in China. Everyone of them ended up being screwed to the wall before it was over. Sure China was all smiles and open arms when they thought they could get something out of it, but as soon as they had what they wanted the marriage was over.
American businessmen believe they can deal with China and it's a STUPID belief. They will be allowed to be there as long as China can gain from it, but that will end as soon as they have what they want. Trying to work with China is like making a deal with an aligator so that he eats you last and hoping against hope the aligator falls in love with you, forgets his own hunger, and allows you to live. It simply isn't going to happen.
In my humble opinion, the US (and the rest of the world) should be doing all it can to force a change in China's goverernment. Anything else is a waste of time and effort... - Posted by: No_Ax_to_Grind Posted on: 02/07/05 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
