RE: Linus hates patents
Most developers don't write research papers to developer software code - just specifications. If you know of borrowed code from other OSes then prove it instead of badmouthing the community. Oh, and if you have ever taken a good look at most of human history you'll find that most everything we enjoy today has been passed on and improved upon from someone else.
Glad to see your back in school and goodluck on getting your PhD in AI.
