Upstream Guys always like to err on the side of caution, ...
and that is an excellent idea, but for the fact that sometimes the side of caution can mean including more people into the decision about what to announce.

Roger, my biggest complaint is that the "consensus" in this situation ALWAYS means NOBODY SAYS ANYTHING, at ALL! Everybody is supposed to totally shut up about it and so the poor Admins in the trenches simply have to cover up and pray for 30 days. Why can't we at least know something about the name of the process/application/utility that MAY have a problem? This conspiracy of silence doesn't help anybody.
