Oh, really?
"Can the mob write an OS that compete with Unix/Windows all by themselves? The answer is NO, as anyone with some research experience knows."

And where do you get your research experience and in what field? Because it's not IT. Here's a fairly good article on the difference between closed source and open source development models:

http://www.consultingtimes.com/ossdev.html

I've worked in both environments and the question you should really be asking is whether proprietary software development can ever compete with OSS, especially now days. The underlying economics of software development have changed-- are changing --very rapidly.

Since you're obviously working on a republican intelligence level, let me see if I can dumb it down to terms to you can follow. Companies A, B and C all need a software product that does roughly the same job. Pretend the proprietary solutions are staggeringly expensive and they keep finding new ways to suck revenue out of their customers (sound familiar?). All of the above companies have in-house programming staff, but none of them have enough staff or budget to build an in-house solution. So, companies A, B and C decide to donate some of their in-house talent to an OSS project to serve as core management team. Progress is slow, but their monetary investment is low. After a while Companies D and E and Joe Student Programmer in OutThere U run across said project. D & E decide to commit resources to the project (small investment, great long term pay off) and Joe Student decides to write a module as a class project. All the contributors know that their efforts will be rewarded with a product they all can use. Small investment, big pay off.

Of course that's a really simplified, but if I dumb it down any further it will sound like "the cow says Mooooooo." Far from being a "mob" most OSS projects are well-regulated (depending who is on the core management team) projects run by talented and organized people. Their code is open for examination at all times and any potential infringements are usually discovered very early in the project development.
