2.6 is ready
I have already loaded and looked at 2.6 and it certainly looks ready to me. I would never have said the same about 2.4 even after 2.2 was mothballed. The current 2.4 team is ready to move up to 2.6 and I am sure that they will be capable of quickly dealing with the few bugs that exist. These are not new issues. The same arguments came up with the move to 2.4 and they were much more valid then. Probably as a result, much more care has been taken with 2.6, but also as a result, users are now terrified of another transition. But when all is said and done, the transition to 2.6 is likely to be a non event. And once some major distros successfully complete the migration in the coming spring, the hysteria will subside.
