"While people slowly start using 2.6, Linus starts 2.7 and all kernel developers move on to the really cool and fashionable things. 2.6 bug reports receive little attention, as it's much cooler to work on new features than fix bugs."

this could not be farther from the truth! everyone knows that the open source comunity have always been based on the ideas of using existing source to code.... its not cooler to work on new features, when the current code you have is buggy and slows down your work.... there will always be someone "scratching a computing itch" when it comes to code such as the kernel.... always someone to fix what is wrong, so long as its worth fixing.
