Microsoft will be slow to recognize this and will lose a lot of market share before they wake up and smell the coffee. By then it will be too late.

Gee and we've heard that statement for what...the last 15 years? Actually MS has been backing XML and integrating it more into their products than SUN. Also, hate to say it, but if SUN implements some kind of development standard it will be cumbersome to use. That is an MS strong point and what has made C# on .NET so powerful and yet easier to work with than java.
