- Global Economy
-
In a global economy there is nothing like jobs belonging to a specific country. If you export stuff to another country, someone in that country is going to loose job. Most of the world including India uses computers and software made by US company. These profits are flowing to US. This money is what is making US a financial power.
When a third world country employee gets $1 a day as wage for doing what a US employee does in a week, where do you think the money is coming from to you to buy products from all over the world? Simple. US companies sell products made in sweat shops to other countries at high prices, the price for manufacturing it in a developed country.
If all these countries stop buying from US manufacturers, the effect on US economy will be devastating. This is what EU is trying to accomplish. They are promoting Airbus over Boeing, Linux over Windows etc. Many asian countries are looking at China and Japan as their source of imports.
By the way, the waiter at a US MacDonalds gets better pay than an average engineer in India. A lot of people around the world are bitter about this. They think that US companies exploits theie countries and take money out. Many of them want a fair share of the profit out these businesses.
Think about it when you try to protect US economy. You have seen the effects with steel tariff. - Posted by: jamespaulp Posted on: 12/04/03 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
