That got me, too.
Linux is still not ready for the desktop, HP?

My home desktop is KDE on Linux. It is a helluva lot easier to use than my XP (bleah!) workstation at work. Applications like K3B for CD burning and ripping, XMMS for playing ogg/mp3 files, KMail for a truly simple and easy e-mail application (without all the junk from Outlook), Konqueror is a great file manager and web browser, etc.

The only thing that's not quite right yet is the consistency of look and feel. The KDE apps I listed above all have the same look and feel, but XMMS does not, nor does OpenOffice (which I still love anyway), Xine (ditto), or MPlayer (ditto-ditto). But in a lot of cases front-ends for the main desktops (Gnome and KDE) are becoming available, and I don't think it'll be long before the apps look *right* for the desktop they're on.
