Let me clarify something
..Just because the project is "Open Source" doesn't mean we are one more developer closer to finally eliminating your job....

Actually I was trying tackle the notion that volunteer 'free' programmers are somehow building a superior product because of their big heart.
I was pointing out that I like to programme but I get paid for it. Why does that make me or my product inferior?

..This is really a self correcting problem. There are only so many Stallmans in the world....

Millionaire socialists are the worst.
I will question anybody proclaiming you can build a product, give it away for free and still make money.
It might work for particular individuals but if you are going to try to make money on services you have a problem.
If you have to release your code under GPL then someone else can compete against you very easily but without the development costs.

OSS will be as sucessful as the businesses that use it. IBM contribute to Linux but what about the OSS database projects?

..You can feel free to hold your position if you want, but don't twist other people's statements..

Thanks and if I twisted words then in my defence I would like to point out that I was dealing with the very serious topic of slaves vs volunteers and that free volunteers do a better job than paid professionals. This last bit is as true with programmers as it is with any other profession.
