I have setup Windows and Linux boxes in a PC lab, end users liked both. They were very excited that they could use open office on both which for some of these low income folks is a BOG deal. The GUIs in K and Gnome are as nice as anything you see from MS or Apple. If you can type on a keyboard and use a mouse, then Apple, Linux or MS desktops will work just fine for you.
