RE: and you know this...
>How could you possibly know what this product is like since Apple just released it?

he's saying it's going to more of a competitor to the likes of ms works than ms office, and he's right. iwork looks great, and appleworks was great, but they are not direct competition for mac office. mac office is a fairly tight suite of apps and office (like it or not) is THE standard all others mimic. while i'm going to assume iwork is going to blow ms works away (appleworks already does that,) i'm also assuming it is not going to be at the same level as mac office.

>not that PowerPoint is as good as Keynote, but it's the only thing they have that's close

do you actually know how to use powerpoint? i mean, really, really use it, as a power user? don't confuse the inabilities of most people using powerpoint with the inabilities of the application itself. powerpoint is capable of a lot most people don't know about. keynote is awesome as well, and it excels at making incredible looking presentations, but it does not include half of what powerpoint can do.

i'm a long time user of appleworks, and keynote has impressed me, so i know i'm bound to buy iwork. it will be great when i want to produce nice looking pdfs and printable materials quickly and easily, but it will not replace office on my mac.
