Linux users come from a broad cross section of society ...
Those who are whining about the evils of commercial apps are only one segment of the Linux user community. There are many others of us, who are businessmen types, who see the situation very differently. We don't resent ISV's or their products, and we don't hold it against them that they have taken so long to deploy Linux products. We understand that there are business considerations that go into these decisions.

I have personally contacted a number of companies to request Linux ports of their products. A few of them have been arrogant and nasty and as a result I would probably never consider buying their products, but many have been very gracious, and have assured me that they are only waiting for the right time. Many also privately hinted that their companies were already working on Linux prototypes. I enjoy the wide range of free software applications currently available and look forward to being able to purchase high quality commercial apps to supplement those. I applaud Adobe's move and would even welcome Microsoft to the party. After all, they make some great applications which many people depend on. So would I purchase MS apps to use on Linux? You bet!

So don't lump us all into one box, OK?
