This only makes sense for Apple.
Did any of you see that TV movie Pirates of Silicon Valley. There
is a scene where Balmer cuts away from a meeting with IBM to
say that this event the meeting between the small start up MS
and the giant IBM should be noted in all history/business books
and taught in schools for it was such a huge event that did
indeed make MS. Well I would put forth that the meeting
between MS and Jobs where Jobs in the end gets MS to put up
like 150 Million into Apple and promise for at least the next 5
years to supply Apple with MS Office should and will hold the
same signifigance in future history books. For that was the time
Apple took MS's fear of the coming DOJ investigation into it's
monopoly and MS's need to show she still had competition and
work a deal in which Apple would take MS's money and her
promise to continue support for the Mac and use it against MS.

OSX was the first step. Keynote and Safari continued the
trend...and now perhaps an full fledged Office like Suite of Apps
from Apple. After all many a pundent over these past years has
said in his or her column that Apple still has an unhealthy
reliance on MS's continued good will and they have all pointed
directly at MS Office as the clear example of said.
