[Novell]to place major bets on Linux and free software...It is looking more and more like Novell will find a way to make money off of Linux..

Well, they don't earn money off Linux directly, in facy didn't they pay $200M for SuSe. Free for you but it still costs someone. They will try to make money off their tradition NOS technology, and with Linux, try to turn the tide on MS by virtue of the SuSe client.
So for your doom & gloom prospects for MS, a major port from MS to Linux for the client is required.
2004 was supposed to the start of this revolution but if you blinked you missed it.
What's going to be different 2005, this product?

..[MS]Their numbers are sickly....
They are?
They did say that projected growth for Windows will be down from this years 13% to about 5%.
The server growth is also single digit.
There is no spectacular growth predicted for MS but you're the first to say that it's downhill from here.
Betting the bank on that?
