Wow- u can tell the future
I guess u have a crystal ball telling you all this. If I recall linux was suppose to supplant WIndows by 2005. Well in about a week we will know if that is true I m sorry we already know that it is not true.

ZDnet here u go again inciting the war again.

I m not a fan of either I ve used both and still do. The only company that can possibly pull off a coupe of MS is probably IBM. But IBM is interested in growing it's revenue stream using IT services (outsourcing deals).

What I m saying is this by the time Linux gets about 30-40% marketshare MS would have recognized that other markets are more lucrative like consoles. phones and other tech related to the digital lifesytle. Linux plays to much catch up if u ask me. I really would like there to be true competition.

Linux has to get the backing of the majority of enterprise level sw developer companies and game producers to be successful.

Linux has had too many public venture failures like. the Pda thing, Dell, RH7.* and the kernel has been delievered late. Here is my point Linux cant afford one mistake. MS can because after they make a mistake they usually get it right after a few iterations, but they have the mindshare and market to back their delay.

Not all MS products are great and not all open source sw is great either. But MS marketing is so suffocating, mind-altering that choice is beaten down thru the marketing onslaught.

Have a happy holidays
