The title of the article says it all: Microsoft: To secure IE, upgrade to XP. In a nutshell, if you want the best security, you need to upgrade because they're concentrating their security efforts on XP, not 2000. Kinda comes under the old saw "Pay me now or pay me later."

"My kids have destroyed half a dozen DVDs so far" I'm lucky, I guess, my only kid at home, a teenager, only downloads spyware, adware, trojans, etc., onto his Windows PC (XP, SP2). He's learned to handle his X-Box and PC Game CDs with kid gloves, 'cause he knows if he scratches them and makes them unusable he's SOL (I'm NOT buying another copy!)

It's the English law that's common, not Rockhead. I think we'd ALL agree that Lovey is hardly common ... he is unique ... rare ... almost indescribable. But so are a lot of other things: the smell of a wet guard dog at the city dump, the sight of a 650 pound nudist, the sound of the fingernails of a teacher with six digits on her writing hand as the chalk breaks and they screech across the blackboard.
