- Desktop Management?
-
I realize they are targeting IT departments who haven't been responsible enough to begin learning about Linux years ago, but it's funny to think that they may be trying to sell limitations to the Linux desktop. Unix/Linux has so much flexibility and power in this area, it's silly to think of it in terms of what is done under Windows. Any experienced Linux Admin would have no trouble managing a network with hundreds of workstations on his own. Or not, but they could be diskless workstations, and the claim would then be valid... And cost less. The openness and flexibility of Linux already makes life much easier for the Admin.
At least Novell is pretty intelligent in these areas. I'm sure they are not just trying to match what is done under Windows. Especially when similar tools to those they spent years and millions creating to prop up Windows are natively found in Linux. They are starting out ahead of the game this time, we will see if they take advantage of it. - Posted by: dingletec_z Posted on: 12/16/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
