Exactly. Windohs and Office could wind up costing you 10 times the cost of a $100 pc. The shear arrogance of Micro$oft, schluffing cost burden on to the pc manufacturers! I am in the process of choosing a distro that is 'right' for me and my machine. Cost of the os: $0, cost of OpenOffice.org: $0. 2k/sp2 is the last M$ product I will ever use. I stopped using IE and Outhouse Express long ago. Let's see, for $300 you get 4 minutes to virus infection on an unprotected 'XP' machine connected to the internet. For another $600 you get many more vulnerabilities installed with Office. Don't car companies 'recall' their 'faulty' products? Any 'exodus' is always led by the 'enlightened' few. The rest will follow when they get fed up with their spam/spy/virus lag. Which brings up another point, how about the extra hundred$ on antithis and antithat ware? Are those $100 budget junkers going to be able to run all that extra 'protectionware' on top of the already laggy default install of XP? Gimme a break, reality has to set in sooner than later!
