Well, right here where I am...
...IBM, Walmart and Fry's Electronics are selling Linux boxes, and I'm now starting to see ads in my local media (small town just outside Dallas/Ft. Worth) from small system builders offering them. My sig picked up our Linux box ($100 and its the most reliable, rugged machine out of our 8 with the possible exception of my old Mac Quadra) at a Fry's sale and she told me there was a whole line of folks walking out with these things. We're not seeing them yet at OfficeMax, Circuit City and CompUSA, but those retailers tend to be backmarkers in the tech races. I would expect that at the very least you'll be seeing CompUSA offering Linux boxes and probably one or more of the general consumer electronics retailers. As that happens, there will be a rapid "me, too!" snowball effect as retailers jump on the bandwagon simply through a knee-jerk response to the competition.
