Wrong Wrong Wrong
MS can and will only survive by investing heavily into the hardware that companies and users by to run such systems, like Linux. Linux has MS beat, . . those tired arguements of not making money on free software are woofully off. Embedded linux makes a boatload of cash for device makers who pay very little for the existing source code, do a little tweaking, embed and sell their specialty items at a premium. Sure you can build your own Tivo, but so many are willing to buy a Tivo, a linux watch, a linux smartcar. Only way MS will be in the future besides historical footnotes and court records is if it shifts its heavy stockpile of billions into owning the raw resources, the metals, silicon, cases and materials that future sales will be generated from linuxware. happy
