Here's what I meant by "now". There a lots of good coders out there which do know that "Software that is not being debugged is not being used". And that isn't a recent discovery by any means.

But for the longest time, since Linux just started to become more mainstream, advocates screamed how impervious Linux was. And if it wasn't, you had millions (well, lots, anyway..) of eyes looking at the source code. I seem to remember during a Red Hat install that I saw something like that displayed in a splash screen. We all know that every bit line of source code isn't throughly reviewed of any software. At least not anything much bigger than a hello world app.

So I meant by now is that we don't hear the impervious argument any more. We hear things like, "At least you have the source, to look for yourself. And to change it yourself". While those of us who are ?bergeeks can change the source code, can identify buffer overruns, etc. But most corporations which have traditional management, wouldn't dare let someone change the source code without testing it against existing proprietary apps. Management loves to cover their butt..

Just my own wrong opnion here..
