Ok, Neal Stephenson...
How about the author of In The Beginning Was The Command Line ? (Link: http://artlung.com/smorgasborg/C_R_Y_P_T_O_N_O_M_I_C_O_N.shtml )

I believe that a main part of his story was that Windows was a Car, station wagon, etc.. Apple was a Bicycle... BeOS was a Batmobile, and Linux was *a tank* that was, and I Quote: "made of space-age materials and jammed with sophisticated technology from one end to the other. But they are better than Army tanks. They've been modified in such a way that they never, ever break down"

Hmm. Linux never breaking down.. Impervious to assaults..

Granted, most of the FSF and OSS people now realize that all software can potentially have flaws. Just because everyone can look at source code doesn't mean that they will. Not everyone is technically able to patch code, even if they have the source.. Even if it's patched by a person in the tech department, you can potentially run the risk commercial apps not providing support since, well, you modified the OS. Maybe you don't use commercial apps, but I haven't worked with a company who doesn't.
