Nothing new...nothing is 100% secure
No flaming Linux..No Flaming Windows ete etc.

Any OS exposed to the internet, and which gains more exposure to users will become vulnerable to attacks..period.

This isnt an MS issue, Its not a Linux issue, its simply a security issue. Lets just hope Linux users dont assume Linux is immune to viruses and attacks simply because it isnt windows and built of Unix code (yes linux is based of Unix folks whether SCO is right or not).

Security is only as good as the admintrator that runs the hardware and has a keen sense for monitoring and yes...patching their OS.

Beleive me, as the Linux becomes more common, your going to see more and more of these type of vulnerabilities. Not because Linux is bad, but as many in the Windows world know, when your OS becomes the hub for more than just a DB server that runs soley on your internal network (mostly unix boxes) the risk exposure grows.

Its not easy trying to be a usable, well integrated workstation/server OS all with access to the web. except for VERY expensive unix web servers, Unix as an OS never had to deal with that type of exposure. Therefore minimal security threats. When was the last time your heard of an AS400 security threat? Thats because big iron Unix and AS400 servers etc for the most part have the easy task of running on your internal network dedicated to DB chores. I'd love to see 90% web servers running on Unix or on worksations and see just how many security threats would suddenly pop up.

Lets hope the Linux world learns from these experiences, and quits pointing fingers at windows, and start paying attention to itself. I mean afterall, if you do obtain desktop and mid server domination, you'll be dealing with these issues more and more.
