Seeing as XML is the only incentive to upgrade and XML is still kind of in its infancy I'm surprised so many CIOs want to implement it so quickly. Perhaps they have plans in the works and want to make sure Office is in place before they implement their own plans.
Either way it shows that OpenOffice and StarOffice are not proving to these CEOs that they are a viable option. Perhaps they'll have more luck within the other 65%, but if they don't do a better job of getting the word out about their product they will not have much success. It could be, after all, that the 35% that is planning upgrades are simply relenting to pressure from employees or managers who want to dance around like goofs like in those MS Office commercials I keep seeing during football games.
