It can only bad new if....
If Microsoft expected and planned on more than this rate to move to Office 2003. But having 50 Billion in the bank I doubt this is the case.

Personally I see no reason to move to Office 2003 except if you have specific need for it or if you are software assurance plan. If you are then why not move to Office 2003 after some testing?
