It's been said that PeopleSoft is "the least intuitive software on the face of the planet".

I don't know which modules the commenter was referring to. We have implemented HR, Benefits Administration, FSA Administration and Payroll where I work and have found PeopleSoft to be one of most successful implementations. The flexible and robust tool sets are worth the price of admission alone.

Truthfully, it is an application where you need to understand your business process. We call it a "heads-up" application, as opposed to a "heads-down data-entry" application. Having end users understand the business process seems to be a plus to me.

We reviewed many HR packages before deciding on PeopleSoft. They truly understood HR as a business and were designing very flexible software. I can remember attending a PeopleSoft conference where customers stood up to open mikes to voice their complaints. At the end of the conference, Dave Duffield and a group of vice presidents stood up and answered every complaint made during the course of the conference and what the company's plans were to fix it.

As the company has grown, those days of customer awareness have been fading. With Oracle's acquisition, they are probably gone forever. Now we have another vertical silo, another economic fortress, and many technical people out on the streets happy to get even a low-paying service job.

I don't think we'll end up with better HR systems.
