Better send your personnel for Oracle training before its too late!
Thats an interesting question. It would not be surprising to see Oracle drop support for third party databasees and sell PeopleSoft apps in a package with their own database. The tendency of vertical monopolies is to create circumstances that drive people to buy the whole package. Thus you might not be FORCED out of DB2, but it might be very convenient and cost effective to shift to Oracle given the choices. There will be the same kind of incentives as provided by IBM and Microsoft regarding their SQL solutions EXCEPT that MS has to play it kool because of antitrust issues. Of course one can hope for as much with Oracle as well. If they try to force Oracle down the throats of PeopleSoft users would that warrent antitrust action? Good question, no?
