Was the 'Home Computer' even envisioned

If I remember correctly, people were skoffing at the idea of a computer for home use back in the 70s. The primary excuse being given, who would every want a computer in their own home.

Granted, now I couldn't live without one in every room, but many of the uses weren't realized until later on.
